Microsoft’s Xbox division opened up its cloud gaming service to Android users last year. This includes recently launched titles like MLB The Show 21 and many other AAA titles. There are now more than 100 games available. It includes access to Xbox Live Gold and a vast library of games. Xbox owners are likely already familiar with Ultimate. As for what’s possible with Xbox Cloud Gaming, this ties in with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Late last year, Microsoft launched this service as a competitor to Google Stadia, NVIDIA GeForce Now, and others.īut with the official launch came a rebranding, and xCloud is now Xbox Cloud Gaming. Chromebook already had access through a dedicated Xbox Android app, but browser access might prove more simple for some.įor the past three years, Microsoft has been working on a cloud-gaming service known as Project xCloud. It can also now be played on PC, Mac, or Chromebook through a web browser. Some Microsoft-published titles purchased individually (not part of the Game Pass subscription) are already available to stream via GeForce Now.Cloud Gaming with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate now runs across iOS devices. At least some Game Pass PC games will be available to stream on GeForce Now sometime later this year, allowing users access to streaming titles on PC, Mac, Android, and iOS, as well as Chromebooks and even some smart TVs. The news broke at the Xbox Games Showcase (via The Verge), but details are scarce. But according to a new announcement, Game Pass games will soon be available to play on GeForce Now. Nvidia’s GeForce Now draws from existing game stores like Steam and Epic, and competes directly with Xbox Game Pass, which offers an all-you-can-eat (play?) subscription model. Microsoft and Nvidia are in an interesting market position: While both companies are heavily invested in the success of PC gaming as a market, they’re direct competitors for streaming game dollars.
